One Year Ago Today

This is where we were one year ago...
That's Jonathan's room at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, before (& after) his transplant surgery. It was around 9:30 PM on May 31, 2008 that we got the call that there was a kidney for him! (He had mysteriously gone into kidney failure in May of 2007 and had lived on dialysis for exactly one year.) It was a completely unexpected call since Jonathan had been on the transplant list for less than 6 months! Plus, amazingly, we already had a live donor lined up! Anyhow, we packed up and high-tailed it to Gainesville later that evening. At 1:00 the following day, Jonathan was going back to receive not 1, but 2 kidneys! Two of them, since they came from an infant cadaver. Just a few hours later, he was out and those little babies were already working! It was literally a miracle - how well he came through everything that day!

(If you're new to this story, you can catch up with it here)

So, a year later...hard to believe! While the events of the past 2 years weren't exactly in our plans, they were in His, and we just have to make mention of how grateful we are for the Lord's providence, grace, goodness, protection, and love in our lives!
