Pensacola weekend pictures

Like I mentioned, we were in Pensacola over the weekend. We went there to see Celtic Woman in concert, for our anniversary and just to get out of town for a bit. Mom and Dad came over with us to watch the kids while we were at the show. We had such a nice time. It rained everyday last week, which was William's spring break, so we were so happy to see some sun and let the kids have a chance to run around and see some new things.
We took the kids to Pensacola Beach in the afternoon. William's not real big on the water and it wasn't super hot, so we didn't have to worry about bringing swimsuits and all that. We did make a Wal-mart run though, to get some sand toys.

Here are the kids all ready to get out of those seats!

The famous Pensacola Beach Water tower, or as William called it, "the ball up high"

We strolled out onto the pier, which is really long compared to St. Pete and Clearwater! William liked to stop and look at the water underneath us. He had to get face to the ground to see it too! It was super windy out, but so nice! On our way back to the beach, one of the fisherman we saw had caught a small shark. One lady was calling it a "hammerhead", but Jonathan informed me that it was a "shovelhead", after we had walked past them. That's a Florida native for you! :)

So here we are ready for the concert. It was so nice! We've loved seeing them on tv and it was so cool seeing them in person! We had great seats too!

The next day we went to the Naval Air Station to visit the National Museum of Naval Aviation, one of Dad's favorite places. Although he's been many times, and I went to college in Pensacola, I don't remember ever going there. If I did, it was a LONG time ago! It was fun to bring the kids and see them react to all of the planes and helicopters. With dad there, it's like having your own personal tour guide! We spent the morning there and then before leaving the base, we went to see the Pensacola lighthouse. It's really pretty and right on the beach. I tell you, the navy people stationed there have it pretty nice! The Fort Barrancas is there on base too, which looks really cool, but we needed lunch and the kids needed a nap, so we'll have to do that on our next trip. We drove by my old school a few times, but we didn't go on campus. I didn't pack a skirt with me, so I wouldn't have felt comfortable walking around campus in pants - that's how it is there. So all in all, a great weekend, even with the kids getting sick. It was worth it!

I've finally caught up today on your page. It's been a while. I always like seeing pictures and finding out what you and the kids are up to. Great pictures from Pensacola and I love the coloring wallets. I had a sis-in-law that used to make stationary kits sortof like that but yours are so cute and much more up to date. Very cool!

Loved seeing your weekend trip. Somehow imagine it was much warmer on the beach with you than over here
