A New Edition to the Family

This weekend we were in Lakeland for Katie's baby shower. I only got a few pictures - we were so busy this trip I didn't have my camera out much. Anyhow, Katie had a really nice shower and we were joking about how Carol tries to throw a shower early enough so that the mom-to-be can be somewhat comfortable. Katie wasn't due until the end of January so we thought she had some time. Well, little did we know that Katie would deliver Mackenzie Brooke Collins by cesarean 2 months early - yesterday!

Katie went to see her specialist for the terrible swelling and other troubles she was having and after running some labs, they said her liver enzymes were out of whack, her blood pressure was rising, and given her diabetes, they said they were getting that little one out!

So by the time we got home yesterday, Ed had called and said that Katie had delivered Mackenzie already! We couldn't believe it! We didn't know much more than that until Jonathan and Katie talked last night. Mackenzie wasn't breathing when she came out, so she was rushed off to the nicu. Katie is on bed rest and as of last night, still hadn't seen Mackenzie in person. Mike was tired, but doing all right. The most I know is that she was 4 lbs, 13 oz, and was put on a respirator. She was being fed through a tube, so she had a tube in her nose and in her tummy. Other than that, she was healthy, praise the Lord!

The latest I heard (earlier today) was that Mackenzie might be taken off the respirator sometime today. I don't know if that will happen, but I'll keep you posted. No pictures yet, but I'll be sure to post them too. If you think of it, please pray for Katie, Mike, and baby Mackenzie - I'm sure they would appreciate it! Oh, and if you have new information, please let me know and I'll update this post! Thanks! :)

Here are the pictures I took at the shower
